All Things Saxophone!
in Grand Junction, Colorado

My name is Dane Skelton and I've been living and playing on the Western Slope since 2016. I grew up playing saxophone in South Florida and spent a few years playing and touring with my original band in Atlanta. It wasn't until relocating my studio to Grand Junction, Colorado, that I really found my home as a saxophonist and educator.

Saxophone technique and education has been my main focus the past 15 years or so.  However, I will happily work with you on clarinet, flute, harmonica or general music (e.g., improvisation) if requested.

When I'm not giving lessons, you'll probably find me in local classrooms working with young musicians or performing right here in the Grand Valley. Gigs include occasional features with the Grand Junction Symphony, with one of the Big Bands we have in town, or with one of my own groups like a Jazz Combo or Saxophone Quartet.

Why learn music?

I firmly believe that music is powerful, even for amateur musicians. I know most of my students won't become gigging pros, although it's always fun when it happens.

The arts elevate every part of our lives. Music helps us work through obstacles, connect with other people, and build an important social environment in an increasingly isolating culture. It's my honor to be part of our community of musicians, and I hope to keep that community strong for years and decades to come!
